Teaches the basic knowledge, skills, and attitude for the safe and proper use of a shotgun in shooting a moving target. This course is at least ten-hours long and includes classroom and range time learning how to shoot shotguns at moving targets. Students learn NRA’s rules for safe gun handling; shotgun parts and operation; shotgun shell components; shotgun shell malfunctions; shooting fundamentals; range rules; shooting at straight away and angled targets; cleaning; and continued opportunities for skill development. Students will receive the Basics of Shotgun Shooting handbook, NRA Gun Safety Rules brochure, Winchester/NRA Marksmanship Qualification booklet. take a Basics of Shotgun Shooting Student Examination, and receive a course completion certificate.

-Skeet or Trap Shotgun if you have it. No need to be anything special, an off the shelf smooth bore shotgun will work. If you do not have one, let us know and you can borrow one for the cost of ammunition you use during the course.
-50 rounds of 7-1/2 or 8 shot birdshot in the appropriate gauge your shotgun is designed for.
-Open mind
-Eye and ear protection
-Clothing that will be comfortable for up to two or three hours at an outdoor range unless the course is held at an indoor range.
-Owners manual that came with the shotgun if you have it.
-Cleaning kit if you have it.
