THIS IS A TWO DAY COURSE.
Teaches the basic knowledge, skills, and attitude necessary for the safe use of a rifle in target shooting.
This course is at least 14 hours long and includes classroom and range time learning to shoot rifles. Students learn NRA’s rules for safe gun handling; rifle parts and operation; ammunition; shooting fundamentals; range rules; shooting from the bench rest, prone, sitting, standing and kneeling positions; cleaning, and continued opportunities for skill development. Students will receive the Basics of Rifle Shooting handbook, NRA Gun Safety Rules brochure, Winchester/NRA Marksmanship Qualification booklet, take a Basics of Rifle Shooting Student Examination, and receive a course completion certificate.

-Rifle of any action type in .22LR or larger. If you do not have one, contact us before class to see about renting a firearm for no extra charge besides cost of ammo.
-200 rounds of ammunition in the correct caliber for your rifle.
-Eye and ear protection
-Clothing that will be comfortable for up to four hours for an outdoor range unless the course is held at an indoor range.
-Owners manual that came with the rifle if you have it.
-Cleaning kit if you have it.
-Rest to steady rifle for benchrest shooting.
