A solid backpack.
Sleeping bag
Ground pad (inflatable recommended)
Shelter ( a lot of tarps, some bivys, very few tents are normally used)
A way to make fire.
Water purification method
A way to carry water. (3 liters minimum)
Food. Something to eat when we stop for the night and something to eat when on the trail. If you need to cook your food, bring a way to do so (solo stove, etc)
